We have been received by Alan, a very welcoming and friendly host (anglophone).
The youth hostel is a safe place with the main comforts.
Easy to find, well located.
I really recommend this place, I think it's the best choice if you want to discover Jiufen by night.

Perfect if you're only looking for a place to sleep while in Jiufen. Right in the middle of old street and close to bus stop.
Upside down, only one shower for the two 8 beds dorm...

Had a great time here. Hostel is well set up to make friends and interact with new people. On NYE the owner threw a small party for the guests to help everyone celebrate together so as a solo traveller this was ideal for me.
All in all a really cosy place, quiet and conveniently located.
