Because you are making a Group Booking, there are additional Terms and Conditions that apply. Please read them and click 'I Accept' below to continue with your booking

General Group Booking Terms

By making a group reservation through Hostelworld.com you agree to the following terms and conditions as set by Hostelworld.com and as set by the hostel in question.

  • In order to make a group reservation on Hostelworld.com it is necessary to pay a deposit. The balance is due directly to the hostel according to their payment conditions.
  • The booking deposit is non-refundable.
  • Please note that any cancellations must be notified directly to the hostel at least 24 hours in advance of your scheduled arrival date, unless otherwise stated in the hostel's conditions.
  • Hostelworld.com are not responsible for changes or amendments to your reservation once it has been processed. All correspondence with regard to changes to your booking need to be dealt with directly with the hostel.
  • Cancellations for reservations must be made directly with the hostel and must conform with the individual hostels cancellation policy (see below)
  • It is your responsibility to pay the balance of your accommodation cost to the hostel in accordance with their payment conditions (see below). Failure to do so may result in your reservation being cancelled by the hostel.
  • Individual hostels may have special booking conditions relating to group stays, please read the hostel booking conditions carefully before making your reservation.

Hostel Specific Terms & Conditions

The remainder of the amount due will be charged to your credit card on arrival. Should numbers or room selection change, the per person deposit times the number of people who actually travelled will be deducted from the total accommodation charge levvied by the hostel.

We have a Quiet time Policy from 2300 - 0800 so guests can sleep!. Staff wake-ups are charged at 5 each time for non emergencies.

Any reservation of 8 or more persons is considered a 'Group Booking'

**Please note this hostel has a minimum Cancellation Policy of at the latest 10.a.m. 2 days before date of arrival** i.e. Cancellation for Friday arrival must reach us by 10.a.m. Wednesday. For Groups and new years reservations see relevant clause below. No amendments are allowed on or after arrival all balances paid on or before arrival and are NON-REFUNDABLE.

Hogmanay (New years reservations that cover the 31st of December) ALL RESERVATIONS MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY THE 1st DECEMBER. CANCELLATIONS MUST BE MADE BEFORE the 1st DECEMBER OR YOU WILL BE CHARGED THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE ENTIRE STAY. ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE IN ANY CASE. Any reservations made after the 1st December must be paid in full and are non-refundable.

Terms and Conditions and Cancellation procedures. This list is neither limited nor final on date of release. Any further details or changes will be forwarded to the customer as soon as applicable.

1.a. All deposits and pre-paid stays are non-refundable in any circumstance. This also accounts for people who wish to shorten their reserved stays after payment on arrival.

1.b. All cancellations must be made by telephone or email by a minimum time of 10a.m. 2 days before arrival or the full cost of 1 nights stay shall be deducted from the bookers credit card details. Group and New Years reservations see above.

1.c. Group bookings of more than 8 people cannot be canceled within 7 days of arrival date and the FULL cost of the entire stay will be charged.

1.d. Hogmanay (New years reservations that cover the 31st of December) ALL RESERVATIONS MUST BE PAID IN FULL BY THE 1st DECEMBER. CANCELLATIONS MUST BE MADE BEFORE the 1st DECEMBER OR YOU WILL BE CHARGED THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE ENTIRE STAY. ALL DEPOSITS ARE NON-REFUNDABLE IN ANY CASE. Any reservations made after the 1st December must be paid in full and are non-refundable..

2.a. Any Group reservations of 8 or more people MUST provide a minimum 20 per person cash security deposit on arrival as security on any losses incurred through damage, nuisance to other guests and loss of revenues. i.e. Damage to bedstead = 110, sickness/soiling = 25+ etc. Any arrivals after 11pm incur a 5+ fee and must be arranged in advance. The breakfast provided is free of charge and may be withdrawn at any time. Due respect to other guests should be shown whilst staying in our hostel. We have a traffic light system for all deposits. One warning from staff - Green, 2nd Warning - Amber = Complete loss of all Security deposit, 3rd Warning = Immediate removal from the premises. Bringing guests back to the Hostel is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate removal from the hostel of the entire group with no refund.

2.b. Any costs not covered by the security deposit may be taken from the Original Credit Card used to make the reservation or otherwise invoiced by arrangement. Ultimately the person who made the reservation is responsible for any and all costs required to be paid to West End Hostel or its Named representative.

2.c. A log will be kept of any incidents and where possible cctv footage will be used as evidence in any case. We reserve the right to refuse entry to anyone who we feel is unfit through alcohol or drug use or may present a threat to any guest or staff.

The following group types are not accepted by this hostel: Junior / Primary School If you have misrepresented the type of group you are booking for, your booking may be cancelled by the hostel."

Additional Info:

All group Bookings will have to place a 10 - 20 per person security deposit depending on the nature of the group. In the case of schools/children this may be arranged privately.

Any cancellations resulting from agreement to these terms and conditions under false pretences will result in loss of deposit.

L'auberge The Hostel se trouve en centre-ville, en face de la gare de Haymarket et à moins de 15 minutes à pied de Princes Street et d'autres sites touristiques. C'est l'auberge la plus facile à trouver lorsque vous arrivez de l'aéroport d'Édimbourg ou de Glasgow. Les arrivées sont enregistrées de 13 à 23 heures. L'heure de départ est 10 heures. Toutes les réservations sont payables en totalité à l'arrivée, et aucun remboursement n'est possible. Les annulations de réservations DOIVENT être effectuées 48 heures à l'avance. Les personnes de moins de 16 ans ne sont pas acceptées, sauf dans des chambres privatives ou au sein d'un groupe. Un service d'enregistrement tardif est disponible moyennant 5 livres sterling. Veuillez nous appeler 48 heures à l'avance pour nous prévenir d'une arrivée tardive. L'auberge The Hostel est le lieu idéal pour votre séjour à Édimbourg, que vous voyagiez seul ou avec un groupe de jusqu'à 95 personnes. Infrastructures et prestations : Absence de couvre-feu ! Le dortoir destiné aux femmes ne peut être réservé que par des femmes. Si une personne de sexe masculin réserve un lit dans ce dortoir, la réservation sera annulée et l'acompte ne sera pas remboursé. Tous les autres dortoirs sont mixtes. Les chambres triples sont équipées de lits superposés avec lit double en bas et lit 1 place en haut. Les chambres familiales sont dotées de trois lits 1 place et d'un lit double. Tous les groupes de plus de six personnes peuvent se voir demander une caution de 20 livres sterling par personne en espèces à l'arrivée. Celle-ci sera rendue en totalité ou en partie après inspection des chambres.

    Chouette auberge, près de la gare et à proximité de pubs et restaurants. Le personnel est très aimable. Cependant, la pièce commune est très petite et on ne ressent pas vraiment cette atmosphère d'auberge de jeunesse que j'ai rencontré auparavant.. Les douches et sanitaires en commun et peu nombreux deviennent très vite vraiment sales. En bref, c'était suffisant pour une seule nuit.

    Bonjour, Notre expérience à The Hostel a été déplorable... La chambre était sale (lit non fait, sol sale, reste de déchets...) Suite à cela le gérant nous a proposé de nettoyer et si cela ne nous convenait pas de nous rembourser, nous avons attendu mais le résultat n'était pas à la hauteur (les draps n'avaient pas été changés..) Nous avons donc souhaité être remboursé comme convenu, mais le gérant a refusé et nous a demandé de partir tout en nous menaçant d'appeler la police.

PLEASE NOTE that there are limited electrical sockets in the dormitories. These plugs can only be used for charging mobile phones and laptops. Using these plugs for anything else will automatically shut off the power. Items left to charge are done so at the owners own risk and the hostel cannot be held responsible for any items in the rooms or the public areas. There are extra sockets in the public areas. We ask guests to please remove items when they have finished charging to allow other guests access to the sockets.
