Round trip of the US west coast. Started in LA, travelled up Route 1 to San Francisco. Then on to Napa Valley, from there to Yosemite National Park. Finally through Death Valley to Las Vegas, before heading back to LA.

4 day camping trip to the Pantanal in Brazil - slept in hammocks surrounded by jungle and got a wake up call at 5am every morning from a parrott! Went piranah fishing, swam with aligators and got to hold a wild anaconda!
Get a small backpack (not more than 60L).....people laughed at how big ours were! Bring a pack of cards...hours of entertainment.

Feargal was appointed as Chief Executive Officer in February 2008, having served as Chief Operations Officer since joining WRI in 2002. He brings with him a wealth of strategic, operational and financial expertise.
Prior to joining WRI Feargal was responsible for financial planning and analysis at Baltimore Technologies, and previously held the position of Financial Analyst at Pfizer Inc. in New York.
Feargal holds an MSc in Investment and Treasury from Dublin City University and a Bachelor of Commerce from University College Galway. He is also an Associate of the Society of Investment Analysts in Ireland and a member of the CFA Institute.
Mari Hurley joined the Group in May 2007 and is the Chief Financial Officer. She is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in Ireland having trained and qualified in Arthur Andersen in Dublin.
Prior to joining the Group, she was Finance Director of Sherry FitzGerald Group, Ireland’s largest real estate advisory company and previously worked at Bear Stearns Bank plc.
She has a Bachelor of Commerce degree from University College Cork and Masters of Accounting from University College Dublin. She completed the Advanced Management Program at Harvard Business School in 2006. She was appointed to the Board in July 2007.
John joined the group as Chief Technology Officer in June 2010. Prior to joining WRI John held the role of Head of Technology at Paddy Power Bookmakers plc for the previous ten years.
Alongside his significant e-commerce experience, John worked in New York for a number of years including almost 5 years as a Technology Operations Manager for Lehman Brothers and was also responsible for the implementation of a newly developed trading platform (OptiMark) onto the Nasdaq Stock exchange in 1999. John has a proven track record of delivering business enabling technology solutions, is a recognised expert in the field of e-commerce technology and possesses a thorough understanding of what is required to structure and staff world class technology development and operational capabilities.
John originally qualified as an Electronic Engineer in University College Galway in 1986 and subsequently also achieved a post-graduate Diploma in Systems Analysis in 1992, also in U.C.G.
Carmel joined the company in June 2000 where she started off as one of the first buddies to the hostels working with Hostelworld.com. Carmel has previously worked in hostels across the globe. Carmel has a Bachelor of Social Science from University College Dublin.
She also recently completed a Diploma in Business Management through DIT and IBEC. A keen traveller Carmel has spent many years travelling around the globe.
Catherine joined WRI in 2001. She held various positions within the company before being appointed VP of Online Marketing and Content in 2009.
Catherine holds a BA in Journalism from Dublin City University.
Julie Walker joined the Group in November 2006. Prior to joining the Group Julie was HR Operations Manager with E-blana Enterprise Group, a professional services company and had previously worked with Dunnes Stores one of Ireland’s largest retailers.
Julie is an associate member of the CIPD and holds an Advanced Higher Diploma in HR Management from the ICM. Julie was appointed Director of HR Operations in 2009.
