Charming reception, a large kitchen and, because the 12 bed dorm is in the basement, it is super dark which is nice if you like to sleep in, however the adjoined bathrooms are a bit musty.
Thank you very much for your feedback, we are happy your stay was nice and thank you for your review. Thank you for staying with us! Eva, front desk manager

There was no hot water, the WiFi didn't work in the rooms and the common area was desolate.

Standard hostel with nice owners, it is out of town but it walk was not insurmountable.

Book here and talk with Anna. The facilities are great, the rooms suit early risers--they're sunlit at sunrise.

Not a typical hostel atmosphere but a welcome change to the where-have-you-been-where-will-you-go conversational trope. It seems there are few long term residents, which is typically a negative (for me), but there is a community vibe here which I liked.
Thank You! Ingrid and staff

Large clean kitchen and excellent common areas. I stayed in two different rooms here, an 8 bed dorm and a 12 bed dorm. The 12 bed was significantly more spacious and had two divided sections, so it felt like a 6 bed dorm--I recommend it over the 8 bed variant which was more cramped.

I had a great time here. The rooms and bathrooms were clean and spacious. It was also great having events run by the hostel every night. Francesco brought the guests with gusto and made the nights enjoyable!

This hostel is vibrant, the bar was full every night and the cheap shared dinner was a nice touch. The showers were good and the rooms were very clean. The kitchen was comically small, one passage approximately two people wide, and the bench tops were consistently flooded. Many people resorted to preparing their food on the table outside of the kitchen.

Great hostel with very good vibe. Try to get a room with an ensuite because there are not many showers.
Thank you for your review :) We're glad you enjoyed your time at the Heart of Gold Hostel!

The ensuite showers are extremely small and have almost no water pressure. There is almost no vibe in this hostel either the common room felt sterile and there are many people who seem to be on business trips. Everything else was satisfactory.
Hello, Thank you for taking the time to give us your valuable feedback. We are currently working on a brand new bar, with a great offer, live music gigs and a cosy atmosphere. It will open beginning of March. It would be great if you would check it out on a possible return visit. Regards, Sven Heberling Assistant General Manager

Great hostel without much vibe. However it was particularly quiet when I went. I recommend the 7 bed room two of the beds are on a mezzanine so it is spacious. The kitchen was small but functional and they include basics like oil onion and garlic which is a really nice touch. I would stay again.

My room was cramped, it was the size of a hotel double room with 2 singles and a bunk in it. The kitchen was okay but had few pots and pans. It also needs clearer signage telling people to clean, the jouvile sign was not getting the point across and it was often a mess.

Decent room size and in a beautiful location, directly on the river and opposite a park. I stayed during the week so there was no vibe but there is a large bar area.

This is an excellent hostel. There is a large well-equipped kitchen and adjoined, a relaxed arty common area. The dorm I stayed in was pristine and had a skylight which made the room feel open and inviting. The staff were also interesting, inviting and chatty--stay here!

A basic hostel that is less than 10 minutes walk to the Louvre. Make sure you bring flip-flops for the showers, they looked like they hadn't been cleaned for at least a week. Also, bring a power pack, there are limited power points (there was only one in my 8 bed dorm).

A beautiful common room but the showers require approximately 1L of bleach poured down each of their drains--the mucused hair smell requires significant olfactory adjustment.

Probably the best Meininger (far better than the one in Köln) it has a nice common area and kitchen, and the rooms are well furnished and large.

A well designed and large common area is the best feature of this hostel. The rooms were standard, the bathroom could use some drain cleaner but was serviceable.

Hotel-refurbish hostel with no adjoined common room (it's in a different building). The room I stayed in was crammed with beds--the best feature was the hotel-standard ensuite. I wouldn't stay longer than a night.

The hot water was a bit crazy but otherwise everything was excellent and there is a great vibe. Also, the location is perfect--it is easily located while drunk (this is important in Dublin), just walk towards the Spire! The largest dorm is fine--the room is very large.

Tiny showers, damp rooms and the common area is solely a bar--a typical hotel-refurbish hostel and, stereotypically, this type of hostel sucks. They use a cheap upfront cost as a loss-leader to make money from you in their bar. Don't plan on staying long if you're on a budget--it is natural to spend significantly more on food while in this type of hostel.

Great vibe, good facilities (although they have push timer showers) and the in-house bar is cheap. The rooms were quite spacious.

This hostel is religious, if you do not like religion the atmosphere will be uncomfortable. Otherwise, a very well kept and comfortable hostel.

Very convenient location but the facilities were unkept. No toilet paper, not clean--I would not recommend staying too long. Also, it seems like there are many long term residents staying here so the atmosphere is stale.

Great atmosphere in a really convenient location. Facilities are aging but well kept. Really good value during the week but very expensive on the weekend. Thanks to Johnny, Medo and Kyle for making me feel at home.
