Stayed in 10 bed dorm. Room is spacious, but everytime someone walks normally, the entire room shakes, like an earthquake. There are no ladders to get up to the top bunk, no WiFi in the room, no lockers, not enough plugins, and the shower ceiling is moldy. The male staff is friendly. Besides the friendly staff, there is nothing grand about this place. So I don't think the hostel provides enough value for money. I would look at other places before potentially coming back here.

Stayed in triple room with view. Lady was ill and extended her stay in the double room we were supposed to be in. But appreciated the balcony and the view we got in this new room. Staff is friendly. Room is clean. The only thing is the shower. I wish I didn't have to hold up the shower head myself and that I could hook it up on the wall. Also a place to put my shampoo on a shelf inside the small shower space. Great place overall.

Stayed in private room. Room is nice and clean. Pillows are too thick. Bathroom door was painful to open. Shower not hot enough. Started to get lots of ants in our room. After mentioning it to the staff, we got a spray to kill them. The vapor didn't air out fast enough and we had to sleep breathing it in. Overall staff is very helpful, friendly, and will go above and beyond. The breakfast is amazing and huge. Might not sound like it, but I really liked this place. Would go back for sure.

Stayed in private room. The building and elevator feel sketchy, but the room itself was nice. Would feel a little awkward in the common space (weird atmosphere). Staff will help if you ask, but most of them will only do the minimum. Breakfast is the basic bread, jam, boiled egg and choice of drink. Overall not a bad place to stay.

Good place. Stayed in private room. The guest house was very quiet except of the occasional kids playing. Felt like the staff were in a race on who could be more helpful and friendly to the guests, since both were overeager to serve the guests needs. The only weird part is that we had a shared bathroom that we got a key for. I was worried that someone else might try to unlock the door while I'm taking a shower, but luckily that never happened. Actually never saw anybody else use it. I recommend.

Fantastic place. Stayed in 14 dorm. Room is very spacious, has giant locker under bed for each guest, and each bed has curtains for privacy. Plenty of showers and toilets, so never had to wait for one to be available. Breakfast is plentiful with boiled egg, fruits, bread, spreads, etc. Staff is relaxed and friendly. Hostel is an easy walk away from the main attractions. Thumbs up for this place.

Stayed in dorm. Good hostel with all the basics. Each bunk bed has a curtain to provide privacy. Never had to wait for shower or toilet. Door to dorm only gets locked at night. They do provide a tiny locker for valuables though. Staff is friendly. Location is near some tourist sites and metro. A nice place to stay.
Thank you for your comment. We are glad that you seemed to enjoy your stay here. We also had a good time with you. We hope we will see you again!

Stayed in a private room. Room seemed clean enough, but found few hairs between the bed sheets. Staff will ignore you until you speak to them first and then they will so the bare minimum. Only one spoke some English. Close to metro, but nothing else special walking distance. Ok to stay here if you need nothing from the staff and can figure everything out yourself. Staff is by far the worst thing about this hostel.

Stayed in a 8 bed dorm, but felt more like a 4 bed dorm since there were 2 sections of the room. You get a small locker for valuables, but anybody could walk into the dorm without a key. I think they were in the process of fixing the lock. Everything important was clean, except some minor details. The receptionist was fantastic; best in China I encountered. Friendly, informational, offers fair prices, and only hostel that gave us a free city map and printed directions. I recommend this hostel.

This place could be really nice! What made this place worse were the workers. Not because they don't want to help, but because they physically aren't there for hours and they aren't trained. When we checked in, it was the guys first day working and he was by himself. He made mistakes at checkin and couldn't help us with some basic questions, nevermind the language barrier. Luckily an retiree was staying there for months and he was able to get the information we needed from him. The rest was good

Good hostel overall. I like the no-cars zone location. Makes walking very pleasant. It's a 15 minute walk to the lake. Mostly clean hostel, but the men's bathroom on my floor reeked so bad I could smell the odor in the hallway. Maybe the smell is unusual. I only stayed 1 night before I had to move on.
Dear Nicole,Thanks for your sincere comment. So sorry about the bad smell. We will try to improve and clean the public bathroom and public area more often.Best wishes.

Good hostel. Has everything you need. Friendly reception. Location and security are good. Cleanliness is decent. They have old style furniture in the private room and the corners had layers of dust. Not too fond of the restaurant though. The waiter was disinterested, service was slow, overpriced, and the food not spiced (got breakfast). I would return to this hostel, but avoid the restaurant.

This hostel is decent overall. Relatively clean, bread with Nutella or peanut butter for breakfast, and located near a metro stop. My main issues with this hostel is that the staff sometimes go out for half an hour or more. So if you happen to arrive then, nobody will open the door for you when you first get there. Also, the breakfast table is too small. The hostel wasn't full, but still too many times there weren't enough seats for everyone or plates for that matter. I would stay here again.

Comfy beds, great staff, get to chose how the eggs are cooked at breakfast, hot showers, relative clean (little scrubbing around edges wouldn't hurt), and more. We ended up switching rooms mid stay. Can hear guest and staff in lobby when staying in room 104 (twin with shared bath). Expect to be woken up at 7am in that room when guest start eating breakfast. Also hard not to touch mouldy ceiling when drying from shower due to low ceiling. Shared bath is lobby bathroom.

Probably cheapest stay ever for private room. This place has everything basic and good place if you don't need fancy. Could be cleaned better though. Furniture had layer of dust, also slight foul egg smell came from bathroom, probably from the slow drain. Cheapest boat tour we could find was with them d.375,000/person. Only disappointment was that we asked for vegetarian meal, which they responded no problem. In the end, it meant that we could eat side dishes, but no special prep for vegs.

This place has super comfy beds. Staff is friendly, hot shower available, clean room, and has anything else one might need. More of a hotel feeling than hostel. They even let us check in at 9am when the first room was clean and fed us free breakfast while we waited. The only thing I'd recommend is for the female staff not to push booking the Ha Long Bay trip at check-in nor asking if we will give a 10 rating at check-out. That made me very uncomfortable even though I highly enjoyed my stay.

Overall good hostel. Staff is friendly (sometimes too much). Our water heater was broken, but got fixed asap. Room can get little cold in winter with lack of insulation. Room has everything you need. My biggest issue is smoking. People (including staff) are constantly smoking, not only outside, but also inside the reception area. As a non-smoker, I found it impossible to avoid smoke for more than 30min at a time.

Room was big, but the smell of mould was bad. We always kept the fan on and left the top windows open, but it still stank. The opaque windows to the hallway didn't have curtains and made the private room seem not private at all, especially the shower where we hung our towel in front of the window for privacy. Bed is also uncomfortable, feeling wires. Book the dorm: Comfy beds and no mold (peaked inside). Staff sometimes friendly. I would not recommend booking the private room here.

Good place that has all the basics covered and more: Hot shower, large breakfast, relatively clean, friendly staff, etc. The only thing that would have been nice is a better luggage storage for prior or post stay. All the luggage is stacked by the front desk public area and it is easy for someone to walk by and grab anyone's bag.

Pleasantly surprised with my stay here. Arrived at 7am before the room was ready, but got a free welcome tee while waiting. Staff is super friendly, helpful, and always does service with a smile. Room is clean and comfortable. Hot shower available. Basic breakfast cost between $1-2.50 per dish, juices are $1. Quiet homestay and not for people looking to mingle. On day of departure, staff gave us free breakfast and drove us to our destination in Hoi An for free. Highly recommend this place.

All major attractions in the city are walkable from the hostel. Staff is friendly, but not the most knowledgeable (didn't know the train existed) and won't go out of their way to research. Cleanliness is good. Dorms are tiny and if one messy person is staying, you won't have space to walk. The lobby area barely has seating and once a staff member was sleeping on the only couch. My biggest concern is safety. The dorm rooms don't lock. So anybody can walk in. There are small lockers.

The hostel has many commendable points, such as comfy beds, key card security, friendly staff, and I liked the common area for naps since we arrived with the overnight bus at 5am and the room obviously wasn't ready. The common area is often crowded and doesn't provide enough space. Part of the common area is not fully sealed from the outdoors and even though the place is clean, I saw rats in the staff kitchen. BKK has lots of rats. Worst part is getting off the bunk bed, not enough railing.
Thanks for the feedback. Our common space is divided at the moment into four separate areas for a total of 80 SQM, unfortunately the separation makes it seem like less space and the majority of guests stay in one area. We are planning a renovation in the upcoming months to bring the entire space together as one large room. Also at the moment we have been dealing with a drain pipe situation that needs to be replaced so the ground will be dug up which caused us to have to knock down a wall, which is why it is not sealed and the likely cause of one of the many rats in Bangkok to sneak in. We do have plenty of rat traps in place but the rat seems to outsmart them. Good news is we expect to have the work finished soon.

Good for the price. The location makes walking to most places easy. My biggest issue was with the staff. They do the basics, but got the vibe that the majority of them can't be bothered with anything beyond that or lack the knowledge to do so. One example, the lady looked annoyed and didn't say a word when I brought down a dirty towel left in our private room from the previous guest. Also, got false location info which made us walk for an hour with our luggage for nothing.
Dear Guest, Thanks for your feedback, we really sorry about your bad experience with our staff member, we do our best to be as presentable and welcoming as possible but sometime we do fail, we will make sure that this won't happen again. All the best, Step Inn

Overall a decent hostel. Comfy beds and pillows, enough showers, etc. All dorm beds have their own plugin, small shelf and crazy bright lamp (would be nice to dim those a little). Major parts are clean, but some areas, like under the beds, could use some attention. Breakfast will fill you up, but healthy options would be nice (whole wheat bread as an example).

Can't really go wrong with location since Darwin CBD is so small. There is a pub right next door that can be noisy. Half of the staff needs to work on greetings. I would often feel super awkward going up to them to request something. And I had to do that a lot since you need to pick up all cooking ware at the reception before you can cook (dishes sometimes still dirty). And they have limited and broken selection. Makes cooking a hassle. Other than that, the facilities are decent.

The hostel is good and has everything a backpacker needs. The kitchen is big, there is enough seating space, the beds are comfy, and the showers are hot. An extra shower during morning rush, when the hostel is fully booked, would be nice. Only a short wait. My biggest issue is the squeaking of the beds and doors. The noise they create make a quiet arrival and departure difficult. Overall, I'd probably return to this hostel if I found myself in Wanaka again.

This hostel is great for socializing, but there is no quiet spot anywhere. Everybody ends up cramping around the common area in the evening and hoping to get a seat. The hostel was oversold during our stay and had 3 people sleeping in the common room and one girl on the floor in our small 8 bed dorm (Olympics). They ran out of pillows, so we slept without one. The staff will help, but you have to ask. Kitchen seemed good, but never used it. The crowd made everything felt subpar for $18 a night.

One of the best hostels I've stayed in. I can tell that this place was built/remodeled to be a hostel. Everything you need is here. Each bunk bed has a curtain, plug, shelf, and lamp. Roomy lockers are provided in the room, and they have 2 available in the common area if you need to store your stuff after checkout. The staff was nice and accommodating. The kitchen is well stocked and clean. Organized. I love the homey feeling here, especially the furnace. A small garden and hot water available.

The owner was very friendly and also offered us free local alcohol to taste and jello. Generally the place is clean enough, but the kitchen could use some touching up and reorganizing. Wasn't enough to deter me from using the kitchen though.

I would not recommend staying at this hostel. The entire facility lacked attention to details (ex: tiny room had no trashcan). Though I could live with that, the musky smell in the room made breathing a difficult task and I did not appreciate the staff suggesting allergy pills to combat the issue. They should inform of undergoing construction, that's adding extra dust. Breakfast is essentially 1 piece of toast with jam, not worth $1. The only upside is the rooftop, but no WIFI connection there.

I was impressed with the cleanliness and layout of the room (could use more plugins). Unfortunately I came in late in the evening and left first thing in the morning to catch my flight and hence couldn't explore the facilities as much. My biggest problem was at check in. I made the reservation in the morning through hostelworld and it seems that they hadn't transferred it to their computer system. Because of an issue I waited 20 min for the reservation to be set up.
